The most convenient way of selling gift cards and keeping track of those sales is to create gift cards with commonly used values (i.e. $5, $10, $15, $25, $50, and $100). Rather than have your employees enter the gift card value every time a customer purchases one, they can just select the gift card with that value and check the customer out.
Here are instructions to create a $25 gift card. When creating gift cards with other values, just swap out the 25 for that amount.
Create a Gift Card category.
After creating the Gift Card category, go to Items in the main navigation menu.
Press + New Item.
Under NAME, enter “Gift Card $25”.
Under CATEGORY, select Gift Cards.
Under TAX CLASS, select No Tax.
Under PRICE, enter 25.
Under SKU, enter giftcard_25.
Scroll down and press Save.
